Bainbridge Believe – Fighting Cancer with Bicycles
Our good friends at Bainbridge Believe are hosting another Mountain Bike race this September, in support of CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA.
Cancer is one of the most prolific diseases of our time, its effects often being devastating. Many individuals and families have come to know the pain that comes of it, and the loss that it can bring.
None more so - than the family behind the Bainbridge Believe Foundation. Craig Bainbridge was teaching in Dubai when he was diagnosed with cancer. This man’s heroic fight against the crippling disease is inspiring, to say the least.
This Mountain Bike race is a testament to his strength, and a reminder to all of the grueling battle that many cancer sufferers face everyday. Children in particular are the hardest hit by this disease – and for this reason, Bainbridge Believe has teamed up with CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA.
All proceeds raised from the event will go to the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation. This fantastic even will afford you the opportunity to change the lives of children in need, just by having an exciting day shared with friends and family.

Birthday Surprise!
Last week, a gentleman by the name of Paul Reichel contacted us from Germany with a somewhat unusual request - a pizza delivery.
This was no usual delivery though... Paul's girlfriend Leah (who lives and studies in South Africa) enjoys her Roman's Pizza so much, he asked us to deliver one for her birthday!
Needless to say - we rose to the occasion and coordinated this romantic plan with Paul in secret.
When we arrived to drop off the birthday pizza - Leah was both surprised and delighted that her boyfriend had gone to such great lengths to make her birthday extra special!
Paul, we take our hat off to you and your chivalrous, romantic gesture. As with our food, this story just goes to show that putting in a little extra love and effort can really make someone's day.
Ditshego Pre-Primary School
Distshego Pre- Primary School is a small school in the middle of Mooiplaas informal settlement, just outside Centurion.
From the heart of this neglected, downtrodden community, Ditshego is a hub of light and hope, emanating outward. As the informal settlement has no access to electricity or running water, the general environment is not conducive to learning. Thanks to corporate sponsors and selfless volunteers, this is however changing.
That is however, only one of the challenges these young learners face. Roman's Pizza was contacted by Nicki Herbst to offer assistance where possible. The onset of winter has brought an unshakable cold to this community. Knowing this, Roman's Pizza kindly donated clothing to these learners. Each of the learners were given a warm jacket, as well as a full tracksuit. The day was made even more special for them, thanks to some great Pizza, fresh out the ovens of our Centurion Branch.
This initiative is but one of many small projects that Roman's Pizza undertakes in its day to day operations. We are humbled that our small contribution could make such a big difference in the lives of those learners and commend the many volunteers who are involved with this school daily.

Roman's Cares
In case you missed it - we’re raising R1Million for charity, with the help of you, our valued customers.
You might be asking yourself “Ok, but what’s it all about?” so we’ll tell you.
South Africa has one of the highest incidences of child rape, abuse and violence. Statistics show that at one point, a child was raped every 3 minutes in South Africa. It is a shocking reality, but one that we must confront, and try to better.
In light of this, Roman’s Pizza has teamed up Matla a Bana, to try turn the tide, and bring some stability to the lives of the victims of these inhumane crimes.
We know that as an individual it isn’t easy to make a difference, and that we feel powerless – but we’re going to help you change that.
For every box of pizza (2 pizzas) you buy, we will donate R1 to Matla a Bana as part of the R1 Million donation. So all you need to do to make a difference, is what you’ve always done – buy pizza.
For more information on Matla a Bana and the fantastic work they do, or if you would like to make a greater contribution of your own, visit www.matlaabana.co.za or mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we’ll be in touch.
Roman's Pizza Cares - Halfway to R1million target

In case you missed it, check out the Advert on Youtube Roman's Pizza R1million Donation Our latest campaign is causing quite a media stir - and rightfully so. Our bold commitment to raise R1 Million for victims of child abuse, has sparked national interest in the topic, and helped shed new light the severity of this epidemic in South Africa.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our customers who have supported this initiative. Each box of pizza you buys sees R1 being donated to Matla a Bana, and each R1 counts. Whilst many people have expressed doubt that we will be able to raise the money, the cheque has been signed (literally) and we will honour our promise. This campaign, is the biggest initiative undertaken by Roman's Pizza Cares (Roman's Pizza's CSI arm that has undertaken many initiatives over the last 24 months)
Yours truly,
Roman's Pizza

Campaign inspired by classic South African television commercials to hit our screens
New Roman’s Pizza campaign pays tribute to contemporary advertising legends
Convenience food brand Roman’s Pizza’s marketing communication campaigns have become familiar to South Africans with its use of, at times, absurd humour and slapstick comedy. This week, the brand launches its latest series of commercials, this time celebrating some of South Africa’s most inspired and well recognised advertising classics.
Barry Hilton stars as the desperately seeking coffee creamer man. This time his pizza is not inside the refrigerator, but on top. “The collection of three new advertisements intends to laud creativity that led to a significant cultural impact of advertising messages,” says Roman’s Pizza marketing director Bonnie-Lee de Klerk. “Few advertisements in history were able to weave phrases and behaviours into social fabric; we celebrate some that are still remembered decades after first flighting.” Hilton’s pizza star turn will be followed by Shuster side-kick Alfred Ntombela’s interpretation of an African Scot and a retake of the schoolboy Imagine commercial, originally selling a chocolate bar.
The brand has become known for its wacky, quirky, and at times totally ridiculous advertising campaigns; and it’s never shy to ruffle a few feathers. “It’s the cheese factor,” says de Klerk, “taking a product intrinsic and translating it abstractly on screen.” Success is evident as the brand continues to sustain its position in the top 5 fastest growing franchises in the country.
De Klerk does not expect controversy to follow the campaign. “While Roman’s Pizza ads have not been strangers to protest in the past, the promotion’s aims are clear. Instead we expect South Africans to embrace the idea and remember the original commercials fondly, as we do.”
The campaign was created for the brand by agency Blue Planet.
